Conversations about recruiting and retaining librarians of color have focused more on building pipelines from LIS schools to libraries and less on elevating support staff of color to become librarians. This panel presentation features three speakers who have made the transition from support staff to librarian after years of library work. The panel will cover topics including balancing work and library school, finding support from their workplace or other professional organizations, conducting job searches, the valuable knowledge obtained while support staff, and the new opportunities and challenges of being a librarian.
