The Peer Information Counsultng Program : A legacy of student peer education excellence
A Session by Alexandra Rivera and Jesus Espinoza
About this Session
The Peer Information Consulting (PIC) Program is an initiative, 35 years in existence, that fosters student success and builds a diverse pipeline to the profession. The peer information consultants are undergraduate students from culturally diverse backgrounds who are hired for their interpersonal skills and academic strengths. Trained in reference and research practice, they work with their peers on campus and in the community, and on special projects within the library. Program coordinators and PIC student employees will share the story of this transformational program, and its impact on the students, the library, and the potential for our library profession.
