About this Session
In 2019, Georgia Southern Universitys Lane Library was awarded a competitive grant offered by the American Library Association (ALA). The Great Stories Club series on Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation is a national reading and discussion program for underserved teens. Lane Library Interim Head of Reference and Instruction Vivian Bynoe worked with Anne Katz, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Reading to read and discuss stories with a literacy leadership group at middle school in Savannah, Georgia. This lightning talk will discuss the training that the facilitators received and how they worked with youth to examine selected texts in a critical manner.
