About this Session

Food is an expression of community, cultural identity and tradition. In contemporary literature, food can also represent memory, place and universal longings for home. In this program, librarians Tracy Crawford and Miriam Tuliao will showcase a stimulating selection of food-centered fiction, biographies, histories and cookbooks with a focus on works by writers of color. Model community programs such as those hosted by Philadelphia Free Library's Culinary Literacy Center and other food-themed programming ideas for a wide range of readers including cooks, chefs, history buffs, foodies, and armchair travelers will also be shared.
