Meeting the Challenges of Online Learning for Adult Learners, in Academia, Public Libraries, and the Workforce
A Session by S. Michele Echols and Simone Yearwood
About this Session
Does your community include adults who are considering going back to school or have already started? There's a wealth of online learning opportunities available, from MOOCs to online degrees. However, many issues affect how accessible these really are, especially for low-income students, students of color, and students with disabilities. In addition, there is a disconnect between how adult students interact with technology in their personal lives and how they use technology in their roles as students. This workshop will detail these challenges: computer, internet, printer access, digital literacy, information literacy, time management, and even the threat of predatory for-profit colleges.
