About this Session

This IGNITE session provides a blueprint for the future of Black librarianship and further considers how Critical Race Theory (CRT) has influenced the past and continues to shape the future. Panelists will discuss the following: 1) historical context on the history of Black librarianship, 2) the HBCU Pathways Project. 3) library practices that discriminated against Blacks in the early 20th century, 4) leadership and work on the 21st Century Black Librarian in America, 5) innovative approaches for training youth services librarians in diverse communities 6) an analysis of CRT in response to the arguments made. Q &A session will follow.
