About this Session
This session will discuss the role of children’s literature and books in the development of children’s television and media. Melanie Goolsby will discuss her journey as a children’s author and media executive and the similarities and differences in creating content for children in those two different formats (books & media). Kevin Clark will also share his perspective as professor, researcher, and media executive on the importance of children’s literature in the creation of media; particularly for children of color. Melanie and Kevin will also highlight Netflix children’s shows that have been adapted from books.
