Documenting Our Past to Inform Our Future: Uses for Oral History in Your Collections and Communities
A Session by Adrienne Cain (Assistant Director, Institute for Oral History, Baylor University)
About this Session
Oral history has often been used to fill gaps in historical records by sharing narratives from underrepresented people and communities. These stories can inform, instruct, and inspire generations to come with careful planning and creative programming and publications. This workshop will guide participants on uses for oral history and how to incorporate them into their collections/programming. The goal is to share the importance of oral history with participants, inspire them to create oral histories for their communities/libraries, and explore ways to garner interest and use from the public.
