Books for Black Folk: Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois and African American Libraries
A Session by Leta Hendricks (The Ohio State University, University Libraries)
About this Session
Many of us know Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois as an activist, author, editor, educator, historian, intellectual, and sociologist. However, few know Du Bois as a bibliographer and builder of African American Libraries. Dr. Du Bois supported and promoted African American Library collections, facilities, and services. Books for Black Folk tells the story of how Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois used the power of the pen to erect library buildings, procure collections, and deliver services to the African American community.
