Black Film: A Gateway to Community Engagement

About this Session

Learn about one public library’s process in creating programs centered around Black film. After each film, the audience was able to engage through a facilitated conversation, often moderated by a community member. Over time, they were able to build an audience and even sought feedback from the community to determine future events. Coordinators at a large urban public library system, were able to have community members act as co-programmers of the latest version of the black film events. Hear about the creativity that attracted a reluctant community engage with the entertainment and significance of watching films.
