Anti-Racism Storytime Programming: The Importance of Talking to Children about Race and Racism
A Session by Precious Abujana , Anita Bass and Robert Mason
About this Session
Baltimore County Public Library workers share their experiences planning and presenting diverse and inclusive story times about race, racism, and anti-racism as part of a central programming team. Story times are an excellent way to introduce children to social justice concepts, promoting cultural competency and sensitivity along with early literacy and cognitive skills. Though created and presented in a virtual landscape, this program can easily be adapted for in-person as well.
