About this speaker

Sharon is currently a middle school library media specialist, having previously taught English and Special Education in a high school. As a student in college and graduate school, Sharon pursued studies related to the history and literature of the African diaspora. She holds a M.A. in Comparative Literature (Univ. Michigan), M.S. in Special Education (Teachers College) and a MSLIS from the iSchool (@ Syracuse University). Sharon completed her library degree in 2008 with a focus on the integration of technology in education. As an educator Sharon has been teaching children of various ages, abilities, socio-economic backgrounds in both private and public schools over the past 20+ years. When away from the world of libraries, Sharon enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks while taking hikes with her dog.
