Shannon Bland
About this speaker
Shannon Bland is a public librarian and branch manager based out of the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) region. She's worked in libraries for eight years and graduated with her MLIS from the University of Maryland iSchool in the Spring of 2018. Shannon launched @blacklibrarians (an online community, highlighting the work and achievements of Black librarians) on Instagram in February 2018. Since then, the community has grown offline by way of in person meetups and its mentoring program. The goal of @blacklibrarians continues to be to highlight the community and make librarianship a tangible achievement for others outside of the library field. #blacklibrarians we do exist.
