About this speaker
Megan is Assistant Director of State Advocacy in ALA's Public Policy and Advocacy Office. She supports the advocacy efforts of librarians, library staff and advocates across the country in cooperation with other ALA offices, state chapters, and affiliates. She also provides training for advocates to strengthen all types of libraries. In addition to her work with ALA's Public Policy and Advocacy Office, Megan assisted the Center for the Future of Libraries in identifying library initiatives that intersect with broader social trends. Prior to joining ALA in 2015, Megan was a high school librarian, teaching in Chicago Public Schools and the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. She has presented and published on topics such as partnerships, library trends, civic engagement, curriculum development, intellectual freedom and advocacy.
