M. Nzadi Keita is a poet, essayist, scholar and teacher. Her most recent book, Brief Evidence of Heaven, uses persona poems to shed light on Anna Murray Douglass, Frederick Douglass’s first wife. Journals and anthologies such as Poet Lore and The Ringing Ear: Black Poets Lean South have featured her work. Keita has won awards from the Pew Center for the Arts, Leeway Foundation, and Yaddo Artists’ Center, among others. A Professor of English and Creative Writing, she teaches at Ursinus College.
