About this speaker
Kalela Williams is the founder of Black History Maven, an online and in-person gathering community that honors inclusive histories and affirms Black identity, culture, and pride. She is the Director of Writing of a youth organization, Mighty Writers, after a nine-year tenure in public programming at the Free Library of Philadelphia. She holds a BA in English and an MFA in Creative Writing. Kalela writes historical fiction, and she loves getting into her hiking boots and out of the city.
