About this speaker

Emily Dowie is the Teen librarian at Greenburgh Public Library. She has worked in libraries for almost 13 years, starting out as a page back in high school and becoming a librarian after getting her MLIS at Syracuse University back in 2016.

She is the Founder/President of the Coalition For Library Workers of Color NYLA Roundtable, a 2021 LJ Mover & Shaker, Winner of the Twila Snead Award, 2020 NYLA Dewey Fellow representing the Leadership & Management Sections (LAMS) of NYLA, and part of the NYLA Developing Leaders Program 2020-2021 Cohort. Her focus is advocacy and social justice. She believes all librarians should be activists.
